Description

Little Joe's Companion Birds Spring 2024 Update on Handfed Babies, Rescues, Adult Pairs and Bird Boarding update.

Many babies, rescues and adult pairs currently available and coming soon. Pictures are of birds currently or soon available, or rehomed last quarter and my favorite baby picture. For more pictures and information on everything go to my facebook page "Little Joe's Companion Birds", a google search will find it for you. Pictures of all available birds will be in their own albums in the photo section.

I am located in Abbotsford BC, a 45min drive East of Vancouver.

Handfed babies currently available: as of April 18th 2024 -Handfed budgies in many colors -Suncheek Conures 8 weeks old -Cockatiels in standard grey, lutino and pearl. -Coming soon are more handfed budgies, lineoated parakeets and parrotlets

Rescue birds available now... -Pair lovebirds green and lutino adults -Pair parrotlets blue adults -Green female budgie adult

-There are going to be quite a few pairs of rescues becoming available each week, including lovebirds, parrotlets and budgies as well as various other birds. They have all undergone evaluation and conditioning here over the past few months, and they are now ready for their forever homes. These are all great birds that deserve a good home that will give them lots of attention and entertainment. A small rehoming fee will apply to ensure a serious home, waived for those who already have similar birds from me. I want to find homes for as many of these birdies as possible, to make room for the expected yearly influx of rescues ahead of the summer holiday and house moving season. Many of these pairs are the unintended victims of the housing crisis and no pets policies.

Adult Pairs -Blue quaker pair adult -pearly conure pair adult -COMING SOON many happy and healthy adult pairs will be available over the coming weeks, including a green quaker pair, a Jenday pair, Senegal pair, and several pairs of green cheek conures in various color mutations. These are all adult pairs that I purchased some time ago. After a pair has been in my breeding program for two to three years they are retired and moved to homes where they can get more one on one attention and entertainment and a quieter home. I am moving on more pairs this year, as the rescue side of Little Joe's are requiring more space and resources. These pairs are not for continued breeding, but are a good chance to have these birds at a fraction of their usual cost.

Please note that rescues and adult pairs are not recommended for first time bird owners, and do better in a home with some prior bird experience.

Other handfed babies that will be available at various times of the year include Ringnecks, Quakers, green cheek conures in various color mutations and lovebirds in various colors. More info and pictures on my facebook page "Little Joe's Companion Birds".

*Please note, all birds will require a suitably sized cage, and I will likely need to see a picture of the cage you are planning on using for all rehomings. Many of the rescue birds that come in here require rehab due to being housed in cages too small or unsuited to birds of their size and needs, and I just want to make sure all my birds go into good homes willing and able to take care of them and keep them healthy.

Bird Boarding: I also offer bird boarding for those going away on trips. Boarding is done in a purpose built room, backup heat and power generation, backup A/C. Individual cage lighting. controlled humidity and ventilation with air filtration. All cages 30 x 20 and includes seed, pellet and chop upon request. Rates are 10$ a night, an additional 3$ a night for other birds that can share the same cage, with discounts applied for longer stays. Pictures of the room and more information can be found on my facebook page, only so much I can post here on Kijiji!

All my birds here are kept and bred in the best of conditions. UVA/UVB lighting, controlled humidity, air exchange and industrial air filtration. They are fed on a 30/30/30/10 diet of seed, pellets, daily fresh chop (full recipe and instructions on my facebook page), and careful supplementation. Handfed babies are never gavage / force fed, and are usually ready to go at 8 to 10 weeks of age. They all have lots of playtime when out of the brooders, and have shoulder and poop training that can be continued in their new homes.

More info and pictures on everything can be found on my facebook page. This includes my wait lists, pictures of past babies, handfeeding photo logs, articles on bird health and care, scam warnings, seasonal tips, my chop recipe and much much more.
