Job description We are looking to add a Health and Safety Coordinator to lead our H&S team in Mission, BC. Reporting to the Superintendent, this role is responsible for ensuring our company maintains a superior safety standard on all work sites while leading safety initiatives and educating employees. An ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented self-starter who enjoys developing innovative solutions. Job Responsibilities:
• Organize and conduct group and individual safety training for the field service employees, yard service employees and H&S team. • Ensure site-specific company accreditations are kept up to date to facilitate site access. • Manage regulatory HSE reporting specific to our business needs. • Create and improve Field services safety policies and procedures around travel and site preparedness. • Investigate and report on Field Services incidents. • Coordinate medical examination requests as required. • Ensure direct and smooth communication with internal and external clients. • Maintain an updated understanding of regulatory safety standards and best practices in forestry and construction by working closely with the BC Forestry Safety Council. • Ensure the company is legally compliant in all required safety areas. • Additional duties as occasionally required by your Superintendent.
Qualification: • A Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field is required. • 5 + years experience in Health & Safety roles is preferred. • Applicable OH&S certifications are considered an asset. • Excellent understanding of the BC OHS and BC Forestry • Experience with the “Certificate of Recognition” (COR) and an Internal Auditor designation from the BCCSA would be an asset. • Working knowledge of ISO 45001:2018 an asset. • Experience delivering educational safety programs and disseminating information to the company. • Experience leading incident investigations, including documentation and implementation of corrective actions in a mine setting. • Strong verbal, coaching, interpersonal, and written communication skills are essential. • Self-starter, ability to work independently and in teams. • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Office, and H&S applications online. • Ability to travel occasionally. • Legally able to work in Canada.
