Description

Never seen these before I picked ‘em up and I was quite surprised just how good they sounded. Radio Shack only made these for one year in 1984. I guess they weren’t well received or they didn’t sell enough to warrant continuing the line into 1985. Regardless I have yet to hear a pair of Realistic speakers that didn’t stand out in the crowd and these certainly fall right into that category. Moulded plastic cabinets with a rear bass port with metal grills. They look like US Army green in colour, maybe that’s why the public didn’t flock to these like the Minimus 7’s. Regardless, they aren’t ugly by any stretch, just a slightly different look. Almost a total departure from your typical Radio Shack speaker design and build. They sold for $180 US per pair back in the day. They are almost 16” in height and 8 7/8” wide by 9” deep. They’ll take 55 watts and give off a surprising amount of bass. The tweeter is a phenolic ring design (CTS) that were used in the AR4X’s. These are fairly light and will take a little abuse with the plastic cabinet. For a 38 year old speaker, these are in great shape. New surrounds just installed. Specs 6 1/2” woofer 3” phenolic ring ferro cooled tweeter 15 7/8” x 8 7/8” x 9” 55 watts max 8 ohms
