The Ameraucana is a happy, friendly and sociable chicken that makes a perfect addition to your flock if you want light blue eggs. They lay roughly 200 of these beautiful blue eggs/year.
They are good foragers,love to investigate their surroundings and free range.
As an added bonus they are relatively quiet and docile which makes them well suited if you are a novice poultry keeper or have young children.
They are a medium sized bird, ranging from 5-7lb. Their face is distinguished by a beard and muff which give them a sweet and fluffy look. They can tolerate a wide range of climates and are especially suited to the cold having only a pea comb which rarely gets frostbite
We have our Isabel Ameraucana rooster over some of our Red Sex Links to produce our own Easter Egger Cross breed. Red Sex Links are known to produce over 300 eggs/year.
Over the last few years we have had great success crossing these two breeds to produce a bird that not only gives you great egg protection, but also that pretty light green colouring that you want to see in your egg basket
