Hay or straw chopper shredder

With the price of hay these days..., We're sharing with all of you small farmers out there... -we've tried out a way to make our hay go farther – we made the winter on less than our usual purchase of 50 bales, despite having more animals to feed than last winter ,when we bought 6 extra bales to carry our animals through --

THIS YEAR, my other half got innovative and chopped, cut up our hay bales into finer feed which our goats loved and could eat with ease. They ate every morsel... the large stalks wasted last year were relished

However, for the coming year, we are looking into an easier system... (Using a power saw was hard work and the saws wore out quickly...) -we came across a Bedding Chopper that is going to make the job easier...

The nearest dealer is in Ontario, for the Weaverline Bedding Chopper, which is manufactured by The Amish in Pennsylvania, USA.

We would like to band together with other farmers wanting to maximize on hay and straw, acreage owners, gardeners who need mulches, and order several of these units and share the cost of shipping to make these units as cost effective as possible for all of us.

I have found several USED units of other brands, made for this same purpose, in Eastern Canada, which look the worse for wear, and are priced $1500 to $2300+, said to be in running order... There would still be shipping costs etc. with no guarantee how sharp the blades are etc, ... what repairs and maintenance might be required before we got our money's worth out of the unit..., if ever... If you can't find these on the internet (we did a LOT of searching to find some of these used units, and none of them are close enough for an afternoon drive to check them out with our own eyes or even a days' drive to go and pick up ourselves) I will gladly share the links with you if you are interested in checking them out for yourself. We actually drove quite a distance to pick up a small older unit, which turned out to be junk... not worth the trip or the money.

The adjustable grate has six settings to control output and cutting length. The carrier for the extra bale folds up when not in use. A plastic top overlay and the adjustable plastic wear strip found on all Weaverline choppers helps eliminate any binding caused by the material being chopped and is very important when chopping newspaper. Economy models with a single swivel wheel and a 9 HP Honda or Briggs & Stratton are available as well as units with an electric motor. A bottom discharge model for mounting over a conveyor system leading to a T.M.R. mixer is also available. The aggressive 76-Knife rotor with a spiral design assures an even power curve for uniform continuous cutting with less horsepower. This rotor, with its double V-belt drive for efficient transfer of power, is the heart of the high-capacity Weaverline Bale Choppers.
